Job Title: Construction Safety Engineer

Location: On-site – San Angelo, TX

Employment Type: Contract – 7 months (possible extension up to 2 years)

Role Overview

BEPC is seeking a dedicated Construction Safety Engineer to serve as the owner’s representative for major construction projects. This pivotal role focuses on implementing the client's One Construction Safety Strategy while ensuring contractor compliance with safety standards. Acting as the Safety Direct Responsible Individual (DIR), you will lead all safety efforts at the project level, providing technical expertise, managing risk assessments, and enhancing project safety governance.

Key Responsibilities

• Support Project Managers with governance activities, performance metrics, and safety presentations.
• Anticipate project safety risks and collaborate with Project Directors to implement mitigation strategies.
• Monitor and evaluate contractor safety performance and ensure alignment with site safety protocols.
• Guide incident investigations and ensure the timely execution of corrective actions.
• Act as a subject matter expert in construction safety and assist with contractor selection.
• Review and approve RFP safety documents and ensure accurate development of safety metrics.
• Ensure compliance with national and international health and safety regulations.
• Lead regular safety performance reviews and participate in EHS design sessions.
• Foster communication among stakeholders to share safety practices and lessons learned.
• Track safety indicators and escalate unresolved issues as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction safety, particularly with high-risk operations.
• Extensive knowledge of OSHA and global safety regulations (e.g., EU, SAWS, ILO).
• Proven experience managing contractors on complex construction projects.
• Completion of OSHA 30hr or equivalent regional safety training.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and reporting skills.
• Current First Aid/CPR certification (preferred).

Contract Details

Duration: 7 months, with potential extension up to 2 years
