Job Description

Job Description

This is a full-time (exempt), benefitted PACS Administrator opportunity at Fairfax Radiology Centers. The hours are Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM with an on-call weekend rotation.

This position is remote. Our preference is for Virginia, Maryland, or Pennsylvania residents. You will occasionally need to attend meetings at Corporate Office in Fairfax, Virginia.

We cannot accept DC applicants for remote work.

Who you are:
As a PACS Administrator, you’re a tech-savvy problem solver who understands the critical role imaging systems play in patient care. You thrive on making sure radiologists and technologists have reliable, efficient access to images — and you’re just as comfortable troubleshooting a DICOM routing issue as you are explaining a new workflow to end users. You take pride in balancing technical expertise with strong communication, and you’re ready to own your work in a mostly remote environment.

What you'll do:
You’ll keep our Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and related imaging systems running smoothly, so providers can focus on delivering exceptional care. Day to day, you’ll:
  • Administer and maintain PACS software, servers, and storage (e.g., Visage, PowerShare).
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot technical issues, and coordinate with vendors to resolve problems.
  • Manage DICOM routing and ensure accurate, timely image availability across all sites.
  • Support radiologists, technologists, and staff with PACS and imaging tools — including technical assistance, user training, and documentation.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and system access.
  • Collaborate on projects involving system upgrades, AI integrations (like Transpara), and site migrations.
  • Ensure image sharing and system integrations are smooth and secure (RIS, EMR, modality interfaces).
  • Uphold HIPAA compliance and internal security policies in all work.
What you'll bring:
  • 5+ years’ experience in PACS administration or radiology IT support.
  • Strong understanding of DICOM, HL7, and radiology workflows.
  • Proven experience supporting imaging systems in a healthcare environment.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and clear communication — you know how to keep technical support human.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in information systems preferred.
  • Experience with Visage PACS, PowerShare, or similar systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with AI tool integration (e.g., Transpara, RadAI) preferred.
  • Understanding of HIPAA, healthcare IT security standards, and system interface protocols preferred.
  • Vendor coordination or project management experience is preferred.
Who we are:
Fairfax Radiology Centers, LLC (FRC) is the largest radiology practice in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area. With more than 110 subspecialized radiologists and 700 employees, FRC provides leading-edge medical imaging at 20 outpatient locations throughout Northern Virginia. FRC works with local hospitals and health care providers to deliver an excellent patient experience and top quality, specialized care.
In addition to our suite of competitive and comprehensive employee benefits, you may also be eligible for the following:

  • Employer paid Short-term and Long-term Disability Insurance
  • Profit Sharing Plan
  • Tuition Reimbursement
FRC provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, age, religion, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, or gender identity or expression, national origin, disability, military service, and genetic information (including family medical history), or any other factor protected by law (“Protected Characteristics”).
